Fossils After Dusk

Fossils After Dusk!

Join us for an evening of fun, food, fossils, and the opportunity to meet a palaeontologist. Attendees will enjoy light snacks and beverages from local businesses before diving into an action-filled evening of activities. This adult event takes place Thursday, February 16, 2023 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

 

Your ticket includes:

  • An informal mixer, from 7:00 - 7:30 p.m., with complimentary appetizers and a cash bar.
  • Ice-breaker activity with mystery fossils
  • A presentation by a palaeontologist on significant fossil discoveries from the Drumheller badlands, and a crash course on how to identify fossils.
  • A fossil identification session with specimens brought by attendees.
  • A fun activity where groups rotate through stations to identify fossils from the badlands.

 

Cost: $35 + GST per person. Registration closes at 3:30 p.m. MT on Friday, February 10, 2023.

 

If you plan to bring fossils for identification, please check the box on the registration page. You can bring a maximum of three fossils.

  • This is an adults-only experience (18+). Any guests arriving for this experience with children/infants will not be admitted. No refunds will be provided.
  • Tickets are only availble for purchase in advance and can be bought online.
  • This event is entirely accessible.
  • All guests for the event are required to show government photo ID as per our AGLC license.

Fossil Casting

Make your own fossil replica, discover why casts are important to the Museum, and learn the differences between fossils and casts during this 45-minute indoor workshop.

 

Ages 4+: Adult: $10 (18 and over), Child $10 (4-17)

Adult Supervision: Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a registered adult. All people attending the program will pay the program fee. There will be no unpaid adults to assist their children, and all adults are permitted to make a cast.

 

Caution: Silicone moulds are used in the making of the casts.

 

This program is delivered in a lab setting using dental plaster which sometimes settles to the floor, so for health and safety reasons toddlers under the age of 4 are not allowed in the room. Program content is intended for ages 4+.

 

To secure your spot, advance registration is recommended.

Express Dig Experience

Participate in an indoor dig and work on real fossils.

Protected from the heat and rugged badlands terrain, Express Dig Experience provides a unique indoor opportunity to uncover real fossils using palaeontological tools. This hands-on activity is designed to easily fit into your schedule, and is accessible for a wide range of physical abilities.

 

Ages 5+: Adult: $10 (18 and over), Child $10 (5-17)

Adult Supervision: Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a registered adult.
