Mid Autumn Walking Tour of Chinatown with Lan Chan-Marples

Join us for a FREE Mid-Autumn Walking Tour of Edmonton’s Chinatown led by Lan Chan-Marples. This tour will light up the night with paper lanterns and cover the fascinating history of Chinatown while incorporating elements of a Mid-Autumn Festival. The tour begins in the RAM lobby and will travel to both historical Chinatown and Commercial Chinatown before returning to the museum.

Registration for this free tour is required. To ensure there is space for everyone who is interested, please only register if you are planning to attend.

This tour is offered in collaboration with the Chinatown Transformation Collaborative.

Museum Skills Workshop: Insect Pinning

Channel your inner entomologist at our Insect Pinning Museum Skills Workshop!

Learn from museum experts how to pin and prep an insect specimen for display. Participants will receive one insect to pin and a shadow box to display it in.

This activity will require working with real animal parts and the biohazards associated.

This workshop is open to anyone aged 15+, with no previous experience necessary. General admission is included, and all supplies are provided.

Junior Museum Skills Workshop: Ice Age Palaeontology

Palaeontologists study fossils to uncover what life was like thousands of years ago. Become junior palaeontologist and learn about what animals lived in Alberta during the Ice Age!

In this workshop, get hands-on with real fossils and learn the skills that help palaeontologists make their discoveries. Learn how to tell the difference between Ice Age fossils and how to piece together Alberta’s frozen past.

This workshop is designed for youth in Grades 4 – 8 (ages 9 –14); no previous experience is required.

Note: Due to limited space, this is a drop-off activity; parents cannot accompany participants during the workshop.
