'Changing Landscapes: Ice & Stone' RAM-Guided Field Trip
PLEASE READ IN FULL BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH BOOKING
Curriculum ties for Grades 3-5
Runs approximately 1.25 hours
What did this land look like a thousand, ten thousand, 1 million years ago? Alberta has many unique landscapes and features. Mountains, rivers, and valleys have formed slowly over time on the Earth's surface, but have you ever taken the time to think how they came to be?
Using a stream table, students will experiment with the foundational elements of rocks, soil, ice, and water. They will explore the processes of river and lake formation, erosion features, and glaciation seeing the changing landscapes of Alberta
RAM Guided Field Trips include:
·A guided visit to our Human or Natural History Halls, led by a RAM Learning team member
o Programs last approximately 1 - 1.5 hours
·A hands-on learning activity in a dedicated activity room
·Free time to explore the entire museum (children Grade 3 and over are not permitted to enter the Children's Gallery) before or after the program
·A designated lunch area from 11:15am-11:45am
·Space for coats and bags while students, teachers, and adult volunteers participate in the program
Each field trip includes the guided portion as well as Self Guided time in our galleries. Some of the guided portions will be conducted first thing upon arrival at 9:30am and some will be conducted after lunch at 11:45am. ALL RAM Guided trips will "start" at 9:30am. Please plan your bus to come at the earliest 1:30pm to allow for either situation and time in the galleries and the program (morning or afternoon)
