Understanding Edmonton's Black History and the Commitment to Building a Successful Province

Join us as we welcome Edmonton Historian Laureate Donna Coombs-Montrose. An artist, musician, and historian, she has spent the last 20 years detailing some of the stories of the people of the African diaspora in the greater Edmonton area and the province beyond. This speaker event will make Edmonton's Deep Black history come alive with dance, song and performance pieces.

How do traditions, abilities, or ways of life shape a person's identity? In this two-part program, students will explore the theme of identity and discover the value of learning from museum objects.

 

'Natural Survivors' RAM-Guided Field Trip

Why do beavers have flat tails, why are moose so tall, and why do geese migrate in the spring and fall? How are animals in Alberta able to survive in the unique environments they call home?

 

 

 

 

'Changing Landscapes: Ice & Stone' RAM-Guided Field Trip

What did this land look like a thousand, ten thousand, or even one million years ago? Alberta boasts many unique landscapes and features. Mountains, rivers, and valleys have formed slowly over time, but have you ever wondered how they came to be?

 

 

'Sustainable Societies: A Resource Game' RAM-Guided Field Trip

How do communities grow? How does the land sustain us? Through an interactive tour in the Human History Hall, students will explore historical examples of how various communities have used, and sometimes misused, the natural resources available to them.
