'Changing Landscapes: Ice & Stone' RAM-Guided Field Trip

What did this land look like a thousand, ten thousand, or even one million years ago? Alberta boasts many unique landscapes and features. Mountains, rivers, and valleys have formed slowly over time, but have you ever wondered how they came to be?

 

 

Mammoth Pass - Adult

Self Guided Field Trips (Combo Test #1)

Self-Guided Field Trips are a way for schools to visit the museum in a supported yet flexible way.

Self-Guided Field Trips include:

Access to the museum's permanent galleries*

For grades 2-12, a class set of resources, and for pre-kindergarten to grade 1, our Little Learners Bingo program.

Arrival and departure support.

An orientation from a museum staff member to provide information about the museum s layout and collections, as well as rules and expectations.

A designated 30-minute time slot and space to eat lunch.

Storage space for coats and bags.

*Our Children's Gallery is intended for children 6 years old and under. We ask classes grade 1 and above to not attend the Children's Gallery during their visit.

Self-Guided Field Trips can accommodate a maximum of 35 students and 7 adults per group (chaperones and teachers included).

Self-Guided Field Trip fees:

Pre-k - grade 1: $45 (up to 35 students and 7 adults)

Grades 2 - 12: $125 (up to 35 students and 7 adults)

Field trips must be booked and paid for in advance. We cannot accommodate walk-up visits for school groups.

When booking add on items, please check to make sure they do not conflict with the times of other items in your field trip.

 

Mammoth Pass - Family (2 adults + up to 6 children)

Come to the go-to place for Alberta history. We have many answers, but we raise just as many questions. We are a great destination, but really, we are a starting point for your whole family to explore and discover together.

Your Family Mammoth Pass provides ONE YEAR of EXPRESS ENTRY admission to the Royal Alberta Museum for up to 8 PEOPLE, plus discounts at our Shop and Café, for ONLY $90!

Test #1: Changing Landscapes RAM Guided

What did this land look like a thousand, ten thousand, or even one million years ago? Alberta boasts many unique landscapes and features. Mountains, rivers, and valleys have formed slowly over time, but have you ever wondered how they came to be?

Curriculum ties for Grades 3-5

Runs approximately 1.25 hours

What did this land look like a thousand, ten thousand, 1 million years ago? Alberta has many unique landscapes and features. Mountains, rivers, and valleys have formed slowly over time on the Earth's surface, but have you ever taken the time to think how they came to be?  

Using a stream table, students will experiment with the foundational elements of rocks, soil, ice, and water. They will explore the processes of river and lake formation, erosion features, and glaciation seeing the changing landscapes of Alberta

RAM Guided Field Trips include: 

·A 1.25 hour guided visit to our Human or Natural History Halls, led by a RAM Learning team member

·A hands-on learning activity in a dedicated activity room

·Free time to explore the entire museum (children aged 6 and over are not permitted to enter the Children's Gallery) before or after the program 

·A designated lunch area from 11:00am-11:20am

·Storage space for coats and bags

Each field trip includes the guided portion as well as Self Guided time in our galleries. Some of the guided portions will be conducted first thing upon arrival at 9:15am and some will be conducted after lunch at 11:30am.ALL RAM Guided trips will "start" at 9:15am.Please plan to depart no earlier than 1:30pm to allow for either situation.

 

Note: Our website currently allows for only 1 RAM-Guided web booking to be processed in full at a time. If you hope to book mutliple classes, please process the transactions seperately.
