Interpretive Programs such as bus tours and hikes begin on Saturday of the Victoria Day (May) long weekend and run until mid October. Reservations are highly recommended for these popular programs.
There are Interpretive Programs for all ages and all levels of physical ability. Age limits for each program are strictly adhered to plus some programs have footwear restrictions (no sandals or crocs).
For any outdoor programs, please make sure you bring a hat, water bottle, sturdy closed toe and heel footwear (running shoes are fine but no crocs or sandals), sunscreen and insect repellent.
Fossil Safaris are a very interactive way to learn about the science of Palaeontology in Dinosaur Provincial Park. This program is especially good for families and those who want to experience what it is like to be a palaeontologist. This program is for all ages.
The Fossil Safari offers a Family rate and the online reservation site will pick the best deal for your family of up to 5. Families include 2 Adults and their Youth (7-17 years) or Children (under 6 years). Other tickets that do not fit into the Family rate will remain at the regular price and added to your purchase.
Enjoy hands-on discovery of fossils as you explore the park's Natural Preserve. Great for all ages. (No pets allowed on interpretive tour programs, in the park buses or in the Park Visitor Centre please.)

Ages: All ages - highly recommended for families (no strollers allowed on the bus due to limited space). Participants under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a paying adult. "Babes in arms" are considered persons and must have a full seat reserved for them as a Child regardless of whether they are being held by a parent.

The Fossil Safari provides hands-on discovery of the Park's rich fossil resource from otherwise inaccessible locations in the Natural Preserve. Load onto the Park's 24 passenger tour bus to drive to the site then a short walk will take you to where you will learn the secrets of fossil- finding and the techniques for identifying the remains of turtles, fish, mammals and, of course, dinosaurs. Although you will be allowed to discover fossils yourself, there is no digging involved and all material will be left in the Park.
Be prepared for this program: for your safety and comfort please bring water, sunscreen, hat and insect repellent. Note footwear restriction on this program: participants must wear sturdy closed toe and heel footwear; NO sandals or flip-flops allowed due to uneven surfaces and cactus.
Alternate Program: In the event of rain, wet conditions, unsafe road conditions, or other conditions that threaten the safety and comfort of participants, programs may be cancelled or replaced with alternate programs at the regular ticket price. Content of program is the same or similar (geared for families with children). Refunds are available if visitors choose not to participate in the alternate program.
Cancellation Policy: Participants may cancel up to 48 hours before the event and receive a refund of their program fee, however the $5 booking fee is non- refundable. Events cancelled by the participant with less than 48 hours notice will not be refunded. Program cancellations may only be done by calling (403) 378-4344.
