Interpretive Programs such as bus tours and hikes begin on Saturday of the Victoria Day (May) long weekend and run until mid October. Reservations are highly recommended for these popular programs.

There are Interpretive Programs for all ages and all levels of physical ability. Age limits for each program are strictly adhered to plus some programs have footwear restrictions (no sandals or crocs).

For any outdoor programs please make sure you bring a hat, water bottle, sunscreen and insect repellent and wear sturdy closed toe and heel footwear (running shoes are fine but NO crocs, sandals, or flip flops!).

Dinosaur Preserve Walk

Join us for a guided walk of the Natural Preserve Road. This recreation program will feature the beauty of the Badlands in the winter season with stunning views of Dinosaur Provincial Park, as well as opportunities to touch and hold fossils, plants, and view the geology of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Please note that this program will be cancelled to ensure visitor safety in the event of:

- Severe weather conditions (winter storms)

- Windchill of -22 C or lower.

Please dress appropriately for weather conditions. Gripped footwear with spikes/crampons are recommended for icy conditions.

 

(No pets allowed on interpretive tour programs, in the park buses or in public buildings please.)


Price: Adult $18, Youth $15 (ages 10 - 17 yrs)


Length of program: 3.5 hours


Ages: Ages 10 years and up. For safety reasons infants, toddlers and young children are not allowed on this hike. Participants under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a paying adult.


Difficulty: Difficult - up to 7.5 km distance. This hike takes place on a gravel road that may or may not be snow covered. Some areas may be slippery or slushy, depending on current weather conditions. Also note: Chance of wind exposure - bring scarf or ear warmer with a hat to keep exposed skin covered.


Capacity:20 people/hike


Wheelchair accessible: No

Be prepared for this hike: for your safety and comfort please bring water and dress warm. Note footwear restriction on all hikes: participants must wear sturdy closed toe and heel footwear; gripped footwear with spikes/crampons are recommended for icy conditions! Also note age restrictions for this hike.


Alternate Program: In the event of severe weather (winter storms) and high windchill (-22 C or lower), or other conditions that threaten the safety and comfort of participants, this program will be cancelled and refunds available. Please check the weather before you come out to the park or phone us at (403) 378-4344 to see if we had to cancel your hike due to severe weather conditions.


Cancellation Policy: Participants may cancel up to 48 hours before the event and receive a refund of their program fee, however the $5 booking fee is non-refundable. Events cancelled by the participant with less than 48 hours notice will not be refunded. Program cancellations may only be done by calling (403) 378-4344.

 

Dogs and Bones and Dogs

We invite you and your DOGS to join us for a guided walk of the Public Scenic Loop Road. Your guide will share general information about the park and you will get to see and touch authentic fossils (BONES). At the conclusion of the hike, we'll cook hotDOGS at the campfire in the day use area.

Please note that this program will be cancelled to ensure visitor safety in the event of:

- Severe weather conditions (winter storms)

- Windchill of -22 C or lower.

Please dress appropriately for weather conditions. Gripped footwear with spikes/crampons are recommended for icy conditions.

Price: FREE but please pre-register

Ages: All ages are welcome! Participants under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
