Guided Excavation 1 Day

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate in an authentic dinosaur dig. With an experienced palaeontologist technician as your guide, you will learn the techniques of excavating dinosaurs and work in a team to uncover never-before-seen fossils. The program includes an orientation to the park and the research project, working in a real quarry, and hiking into and out of the dig site. Your work will contribute to valuable ongoing research at the Royal Tyrrell Museum.

The 1-Day program is being offered on a limited basis for guests with time constraints. It will include an orientation to the park, research project, and quarry, as well as training in palaeontological field methods. You will then have the opportunity to apply those methods to excavate fossils and assist with scientific fieldwork. The 2-Day program builds on this to provide a deeper experience, including more time excavating fossils and a greater range of tasks to engage with, such as quarry mapping, jacketing fossils in plaster, and collecting specimens.
