Interpretive Programs such as bus tours and hikes begin on Saturday of the Victoria Day (May) long weekend and run until mid October. Reservations are highly recommended for these popular programs.

There are Interpretive Programs for all ages and all levels of physical ability. Age limits for each program are strictly adhered to plus some programs have footwear restrictions (no sandals or crocs).

For any outdoor programs please make sure you bring a hat, water bottle, sunscreen and insect repellent and wear sturdy closed toe and heel footwear (running shoes are fine but NO crocs, sandals, or flip flops!).

Exclusive Winter Experience

The Exclusive Winter Experience

Join a park interpreter for the ultimate winter experience at Dinosaur Provincial Park. We have combined the best of both worlds: an outdoor hike in the natural preserve, and an indoor tour which takes you behind the scenes of the palaeontology field station.


Price: $30 Adult and $17 Youth (ages 7-17 yrs)


Length of Program: 4 hours (12:00 - 4:00 p.m.)


Difficulty: Moderate to difficult depending on snow/ice conditions for the hiking part of the experience


Ages: Adults and Youth (ages 7-17 years)


Capacity: 15 people


Important Information:

  • Ticket Pickup: Tickets can be picked up at the Park Visitor Centre about 30 minutes prior to the program start time. All programs leave on scheduled time. Late arrivals will not be refunded.
  • Parking: Please park at the Cretaceous Cafe parking lot and take the short walking trail to the Visitor Centre (2 minute walk).
  • Be Prepared: For your comfort and safety please dress for the weather. Wear appropriate winter hiking boots and layered clothing. Bring water and a snack.
  • Cancellation: In the case of extreme winter weather or unsafe highway conditions for you to travel to the park, we will cancel and refund. (403) 378-4344.
  • Booking fee: A reservation fee of $5.00 will be charged on your total booking. This fee will also be refunded if the park cancels the program.
  • Location: The program will start at the Dinosaur Provincial Park Visitor Centre. The provincial park is located 48 kilometers northeast of Brooks (and at least a 2 hours drive from Drumheller and 2.5 hours drive from Calgary depending on road conditions).
