'Resource Roundtable' Object Kit

Our popular Sustainable Societies program is now available as a take-home object kit! We've transformed the guided tour and board game into a hands-on learning experience for your classroom.

Self-Guided Field Trips

Self-Guided Field Trips are a great way for schools to visit the museum in a supported and flexible way.

Self-Guided Field Trip fees (per group, up to 35 students and 7 adults):

Pre-k - grade 1: $45

Grades 2   12: $125

 

 

 

 

 

Summer Self Guided Field Trip

Self-guided field trips are a great way for groups to visit the museum in a supported and flexible way.

Self-guided field trip fees per grpup (of up to 20 kids and 4 adults):

All groups $75.00

Fall self-guided field trips include:

  • A designated space for coats and backpacks
  • A reserved time and space for lunch (11:15am-11:45am)
  • Access to the museum's permanent galleries (the children's gallery is for age 6 and under)

 

Each booking allows for up to 20 kids and 4 adults to attend.

To keep our galleries, as well as the students visiting safe, we ask that supervision is maintained AT ALL TIMES in the galleries.

 

Bookings are completed upon confirmation of credit card payment. At this time, we are not allowing payment upon arrival for group bookings - they must be paid for in advance.

You will receive a message to the provided preferred email address approximately 1 week prior to your booking with further information about arrival.

How do traditions, abilities, or ways of life shape a person's identity? In this two-part program, students will explore the theme of identity and discover the value of learning from museum objects.

 

'Natural Survivors' RAM-Guided Field Trip

Why do beavers have flat tails, why are moose so tall, and why do geese migrate in the spring and fall? How are animals in Alberta able to survive in the unique environments they call home?

 

 

 

 

'Changing Landscapes: Ice & Stone' RAM-Guided Field Trip

What did this land look like a thousand, ten thousand, or even one million years ago? Alberta boasts many unique landscapes and features. Mountains, rivers, and valleys have formed slowly over time, but have you ever wondered how they came to be?

 

 

'Sustainable Societies: A Resource Game' RAM-Guided Field Trip

How do communities grow? How does the land sustain us? Through an interactive tour in the Human History Hall, students will explore historical examples of how various communities have used, and sometimes misused, the natural resources available to them.

 

'Arctic' Object Kit

The Arctic Object Kit is built on the foundations of Indigenous cultural content specific to the Northern communities in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories.

 

'Métis' Object Kit

Bring the rich and long history of the Métis to your classroom. This object kit provides samples of artwork, tools and activities such as books, a full glossary of items and 15 museum quality objects to deepen student understanding of Métis relationship to the land.

'Fossils' Object Kit

What does a real dinosaur bone look and feel like? What about an ammonite shell? Use this kit to discover plant and animal fossils in a hands-on way!

 

'Rocks & Minerals' Object Kit

Explore the different properties of igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary specimens with your students.

 

'Early Life' Object Kit

Have you ever heard of a darning mushroom? What about a soap saver? Learn about communities of the past by exploring early life tools, clothing and recreational items.

 

'Animal Adaptations' Object Kit

From furs to feet, skulls to teeth, RAM's Learning Collection has a wide selection of natural specimens to help classes explore animals of Alberta and their adaptations.
