HONOURING THE GOLD MOUNTAIN DREAMERS

It has been more than a century since the passing of the 1923 Chinese Immigration Act, also known as the Chinese Exclusion Act - A federal law banning almost all Chinese immigration to Canada from 1923 to 1947.

After the Act was repealed, and Chinese immigrants were allowed into Canada again, family reunification began; families who had been separated for decades because of the Chinese Immigration Act were reunited.

This book looks back at the early days, examining the impact of the Chinese Immigration Act, and highlights some of the challenges and contributions of Chinese Canadians to Calgary, Alberta and Canada.
